The Grain Collective was created by Chef Dom Shorthouse.
Dom has been cooking professionally since the 90s, when he attended culinary school, and worked under some of Australia’s best chefs, in his hometown of Melbourne, Australia.
Exposed to all sorts of flavors by the multicultural food scene in his hometown, and his extensive world travels, Dom can turn his hand to any kind of food, but is particularly heavily influenced by the fresh flavours and crisp textures of South East Asia, where he lived for seven years, consulted in the hospitality industry and managed a cafe.
Moving to Bend in 2021, he cheffed at Jackson’s Corner before taking a position at Cascade Culinary Institute as a chef instructor.
The Grain Collective came out of a desire to share his passion with the people of Central Oregon. Bend offers incredible dining for a city of its size, and Dom is here to bring that level of quality to private spaces - using the amazing produce of the Pacific Northwest to create delicious, bespoke meals that reflect the depth and breadth of world cuisine, in your own home.
